Shopping in Kusadasi.
Kusadasi is a bustling and vibrant place full to the brim with shops, markets and bazaars. It offers one of the largest shopping bazaars in Turkey,
containing over 1000 jewellery; leather, carpet and souvenier shops. You will find the shops in Kusadasi are open 7 days a week from 9 in the morning
till midnight, that's a whole lot of shopping time!!!
Bargaining and haggling is part of the fun of shopping in Turkey, and part of the tradition is that you
will always be offered a drink, usually apple tea - 'elma çay'. Shoppers in Kusadasi mostly seek hand-made Turkish
carpets, soft leather jackets and handbags, and superb jewellery. The reason for this is the low cost, high quality
and abundance of these items.
Outside many of the carpet shops you will find a woman demonstrating the technique used and displaying the high quality
of the rugs and carpets. Inside the carpet shops you will be taken into a large room with hundreds upon hundreds of rolled
up carpets, and while you enjoy a nice drink of apple tea you will be shown any number of carpets you would like to see.
They will seek out any size, colour or pattern you wish to see with no obligation to buy.
Jewellery in Kusadasi is also of superior quality, you will find wonderful ranges of yellow, rose and white gold,
as well as diamonds and gems. If you find a piece of jewellery you like in yellow gold but would prefer it in white gold, it can be
done for little or no cost at all.
There is also an amazing collection of clothes, shoes and handbags for shoppers who just adore designer
labels. Due to a lack of copyright laws in Turkey you can buy exact copies of many designer clothes and handbags at a
fraction of the cost. Many designer names such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Miss Sixty, Pineapple, Dolce & Gabbana and Adidas
can be seen in the bazaars.
When shopping in Kusadasi you will always find very friendly and helpful shop keepers who will make every effort to help you
find what you are looking for and if something doesn't fit quite right they will have it altered for you free of charge. All
in all a visit to Kusadasi is a shopper's paradise and that is why shopping is one of the main tourist attractions within Kusadasi.
